Independent study - or what to do besides the set homework

Whether your free periods are in school or at home there are things you could do to improve your knowledge of the subject

For the coursework unit

1 - Read through class materials - either from your folders or from the blog
2 - Read screenplays (go to http://www.simplyscripts.com/movie.html )- look at how screenplays are set out and the amount of information they contain - note down ideas on good and bad practice. Also apply aspects of narrative theory - binary opposites and The Hero's Journey
3 - Read news stories and imagine how the facts can be used to generate a film - be imaginative, be creative

For TV Drama

Watch clips from programmes use BBC iPlayer (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv), ITV Net Player (http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/) and 4 On Demand (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/4od)and answer the common set of questions for all TV drama extracts - which is in your TV drama pack

Wtach programmes at home to analyse too - the more often you are thinking about the concepts, the more likely you are to understand them
